Mike Schwartz might tell you that he peaked in high school when he won the Western New York high school equivalent of a Tony Award for his role as Tony in "West Side Story," but the Chicago Jewish community begs to differ.

Mike has put time, money and sweat into Chicago's Jewish young adult community. He is entering the last year of his five-year term on the JUF YLD Board, having served as executive vice president and then president. The exclamation point on his commitment to YLD was recruiting his vocal group, Deep Dish A Cappella, to open for James Corden at the YLD Big Event Fundraiser last December.

For as deeply as he has invested in Chicago's Jewish community, Mike is also a forever proud native of Buffalo, New York, where for many years he returned to lead High Holiday services.

HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK:
When I moved to Chicago 11 years ago, I knew very few people. I turned to YLD/JUF, which is where I started building relationships and my community. Since then, I've been committed to giving back to the community, devoting my time and resources towards volunteering, getting other people involved and raising funds for the Jewish community.
