Nathan Redisch is a dedicated leader who works tirelessly to create opportunities for young Jews in Chicago. Since shortly after the group was founded (almost 10 years ago), he has been on the steering committee of Windy City Minyan, an organization that provides Jewish religious experiences for young adults in Chicago. Thanks to his efforts in growing this community over that time, Windy City Minyan has become a place for Jews of diverse backgrounds to come together and form new connections.

Nathan is also a big supporter of anything JUF. He has held many positions on the YLD Board of Directors, including: Vice President, Executive Vice President, and most recently, Chair of the Gesher Committee.

Through his work at Silverstein Base Hillel, Nathan led the first cohort of LEARN with a goal to bring young professionals together to study Jewish concepts in a progressive context. There is no challenge too big or small for Nathan to take on with hopes of helping others in his community.

HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK:
I give back by dedicating my time and money to organizations that are important to me, most notably JUF. Through my involvement with YLD, I try to make others feel welcomed into the community in the way that I was when I first moved to Chicago, almost 10 years ago. The more that I have become involved, the more that I have learned about the amazing work that JUF does to help those in need in Chicago, Israel, and around the world, which inspires me to give back even more and to encourage others to do the same.

Elie Wiesel, z''l. After experiencing the atrocities of the Holocaust firsthand, he devoted his life to helping other victims of oppression and fighting for human rights across the globe.

HOW YOU JEW IN CHICAGO:
A typical week often includes attending multiple Jewish events in Chicago such as a Jewish learning course taught by Silverstein Base Hillel, a YLD Board meeting, JUF Professionals Network event, volunteer program, or happy hour sponsored by JUF, and/or a Friday night service at Windy City Minyan.
