When the pandemic hit, Joey sprang into action to
make sure the Chicago Jewish community would have places to gather, pray, and
celebrate even from far away. He started hosting Mizmor L'Reta , an
outdoor minyan on his back patio, and organized multiple services for each
Jewish holiday with the help of Rabbi Megan GoldMarche at Base. Now, he is
starting his first year on JUF's YLD Board and continues his work on the boards
of the JUF Young Lawyers Group and Windy City Minyan, as well as staying
involved with Anshe Emet Synagogue.
In his own minyan and beyond, Joey
is determined to create spaces for every Jew who wants to be involved. Known for
his welcoming presence and eagerness to collaborate and integrate new people
into the community, he gives back in so many ways and is always looking for
fresh ideas to learn and share.
