Lia Goldfarb

There are some things in Lia’s life that she finds so irritating that they’re actually funny – like “honor roll” bumper stickers, doctor’s office waiting rooms, and the font “Curlz MT.” And then there are other things that make her really happy – like frozen meals from her mom, unique kitchen gadgets, and a website that keeps track of which TV episodes she’s watched. Sometimes funny, sometimes sentimental, Lia uses her love of writing to attempt to make a tiny difference in the world – or at least make you chuckle.

Lia works as the Membership and Communications Director at Temple Jeremiah in Northfield, Ill. On the weekends, she focuses her energy as a co-founder and committee member of Windy City Minyan, an independent minyan for 20- and 30-somethings in the Lakeview area. She also tutors bar/bat mitzvah students.

Lia grew up in Lincolnwood, Ill., graduated from Northwestern University with a major in Journalism and a minor in Hebrew Studies, and graduated from Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership with a Masters in Jewish Professional Studies.

In her free time (a rare, lovely gift), Lia maintains a weekly blog at lialehrer.com. She likes to bake (ask her for her chocolate peanut butter oreo mousse cake recipe), listen to audio books while driving to work, take pictures, do touristy activities in her beloved city of Chicago, and spend time with family and friends.
